Ongoing and Recent Responses
Partnerships Are Instrumental To Modernization Success
The CSTE Preparedness and Response Team and other staff from the CSTE National Office engage STLT epidemiologists and partners by hosting and attending external meetings, including CDC response-related calls. CSTE routinely collaborates and integrates with CDC’s Graduated Response Framework (previously IMS) to prepare for, respond to, and recover from acute emergencies through these engagement opportunities.
Activities include:
Facilitating bidirectional communication among state, Tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) public health agencies and other partners.
Activities to achieve this objective include assisting federal partners in disseminating information to CSTE’s membership; acting as a liaison or advocate on behalf of members in communications with federal agencies; and collaborating with partner organizations to ensure members receive robust and consistent support during times of routine operations and emergency response.
Providing technical assistance (TA), tools, and resources to STLT) public health agencies and other partners.
Activities to achieve this objective include facilitating peer-to-peer support; coordinating the development of member-driven position statements with standardized surveillance case definitions; and determining that diseases or conditions are to be nationally notifiable.
Advising and informing policy decisions by providing subject matter expertise and perspective from state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) epidemiologists and CSTE National Office staff
Activities to achieve this objective include: providing pre-decisional input on draft strategies, policies, or resources to CDC and other federal partners; developing and deploying rapid assessments of membership capabilities, practices, gaps; and needs to help inform emergency response needs.
Activities include hosting response coordination calls: Ad hoc calls, ASE Calls, close-hold calls with representatives from the national public health associations, etc.
